Internship Programme UK

About the Pearson Internship Programme (PIP UK)

“PIP UK has opened many doors and is a fantastic testament to Pearson's bold and unwavering commitment to celebrating diversity.”

- Abdul Khalif, PIP UK Alumnus 2013.

PIP UK began life as PDSIP, (the Pearson Diversity Summer Internship Programme). The award-winning programme was set up in response to the 2003 DIPNET report and Pearson's own workforce demographic data which showed an under representation of racial and ethnic diversity within our UK businesses. PDSIP was the first internship of its kind.

In 2013, PIP UK was born. The internship remained a positive action programme*, with a firm focus on diversity, but was extended to three months to allow our interns to immerse themselves in their roles and projects for a longer period.

PIP UK's evolution continues; we have now broadened out the scheme to include graduates with disabilities, in collaboration with Leonard Cheshire's Change 100 programme. The first cohort will join us in 2014, as we mark ten years of the internship (Happy Birthday PIP!).

Join us as we celebrate ten years of bringing emerging talent into Pearson.

*PIP UK is run under the Equality Act 2010 (UK).

What's the aim of PIP UK?

As we evolve as a business and respond to the changing needs of the educational sphere, we need to continually attract talented and bright individuals who share our ethos of 'Always Learning'. The aim of PIP UK is to bring that talent into the business and where possible, retain it. At the same time, it's important that our workplace reflects the global reach of our business.

When does it take place?

PIP UK will run from 29th September 2014 to 19th December 2014.

What does it involve?

PIP UK offers a paid, three month placement in one area of the Pearson business, (including the Financial Times and Pearson VUE) As a PIP UK intern, you'll be tasked with a specific project within a specific business area. You'll also participate in workshops which provide personal and professional development training.

But our relationship with you doesn't end after the internship. We think it's important to stay connected. That's why we launched the PIP UK Alumni Group; a network for former interns to stay abreast of developments in the organisation and maintain the relationships built over the course of the internship.

Who's eligible?

PIP UK is a positive action programme for recent graduates from a BAME background (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) and for graduates with disabilities*. Therefore, the programme is open to recent graduates from a BAME background and recent graduates with a disability, who:

  • Possess a 2:1 degree classification

*PIP UK is run under the Equality Act 2010 (UK).

How much do I get paid?

PIP UK is a paid internship programme. The internship is paid at a rate of £1,430 gross per calendar month, in line with the London Living Wage.
